Decorating your bathroom can be one of the easiest tasks in your decorating jobs. You do not need too much accessories to achieve an attractive bathroom. Just be creative and resourceful in choosing the right materials, which reflects your personality and interest. Bathroom decorating tips can be helpful if you want to decorate your bathroom better.

You can find bathroom decorating tips in books, magazines and in the internet. If you do not have any idea on hoe to design, select those bathroom decorating tips that are appropriate to your own bathroom and try the suggestions given.

Start with the shower curtain. Select the color and design you want, which you think will look good in your bathroom. The paint in your bathroom should match the color of your shower curtain. If you want to make your bathroom appear larger, choose light colors. Complement the shower curtain color the paint of the bathroom.

Towel racks are necessary and place them near the bathtub or toilet. The design of the towel racks must be the same to have a better appeal. Pick towels that have the same shade as the shower curtain. They do not have to be the same color, just the shade. Roll some additional towels in a small stylish basket and place them on the floor.

Rugs for your bathroom floor should also go with the colors of your towels. If your bathroom is spacious, it is a good idea to place rugs by the toilet and the sink.

Add more accessories in the bathroom such as tissue holders, toothbrush holders and soap dispenser. Scented candles can be a nice accent on the vanity and bathtub corners. You can also put some of your collections in the bathroom to personalize your design. Unique bottles, paintings, and small figurines can create a more interesting appeal. Just make sure that you do not overdo the design for it may become cluttered.

Bathrooms can be very noisy places due to exposed pipes, family members taking showers, blow-drying their hair and so on and so forth. Just because the walls in your home have insulation, including the ceiling does not mean that there is insulation in the interior walls to reduce the noisy sounds. In most cases, interior walls have no insulation at all.

There are many different ways you can soundproof your bathrooms including adding insulation or by doing a few simple maintenance things that are very simple. Insulating the interior walls is the best answer. If you would like to do to it yourself, there is a simple method even though you will need another person to help. You can choose to go through the bathroom wall or the other wall. In most cases, as long as the pipes are not in the wall that needs the insulation you can go through the bathroom wall. It also depends on how many walls you need to soundproof. In some cases, the guest bathroom may be beside not only the dining room, but also a bedroom to one side or the other. You may wish to insulate more than one wall to give the person in the bathroom a bit more privacy. No matter, what the case you will should be able to add insulation through the bathroom wall.

The best insulation to use is called cellulose insulation. Cellulose insulation is nothing more than shredded newspaper treated with fire retardants. This insulation can and will fill and pack the stud cavities. What you will need is a stud finder, bags of cellulose insulation, a drill, and an insulation machine. You can find all of these products at a home repair center or a retail store such as Home Depot. You may even be able to rent the insulation machine.

Now, find the studs. Next, drill a hole in between the studs on the wall you wish to insulate. Measure the nozzle on the insulation machine in order to know what size to make the hole. Drill a hole about 4 to 6 inches down from the ceiling. The insulation machine needs to be outdoors with the hose running in through the window or a door. One person will need to be outside with the insulation machine to operate the machine and fill the hopper with insulation and the other person holding the nozzle in the wall to fill the cavity with insulation. When the insulation is at the top of the hole, you will be done. Be careful not to overfill. Once you see the insulation coming out of the hole, stop the machine. You can now repair the hole and paint the wall.

If you are searching for easier ways in which to soundproof your bathroom, you will be glad to know there are a few ways that are very simple and are not that expensive.

Applying rough materials to the walls and ceilings can be a great way in which to soundproof your bathroom. Adding such things as paint with resins, wall coverings such as rough wallpaper, carpeting to floors, and even speckled paint on the ceilings can aid in soundproofing. Smooth surfaces allow noise to bounce around the room whereas rough surfaces to do not. If you do not wish to carpet the bathroom, you can use mats or rugs. These items will also reduce sound, but will not soundproof as well as insulating the interior walls. Another option is the use of a sound conditioners. A sound conditioner or white noise machine will help mask all types of bathroom sounds. The sound machine should be placed outside of the bathroom door for maximum effectiveness. White noise machines produce sounds similar to those of a box fan or air conditioning unit and will help mask most sounds coming from inside the bathroom.

Basically, bathroom design lighting should be considered with different kinds of options. There is practicability, safety, style and decoration. When considering practicability, what comes to mind are the cheap bulbs and shadowy figures we usually see on poor suspense or thriller films. But today, one can avail of energy-saving light bulbs which provide enough brightness to fill the whole bathroom. What’s more is that these bulbs, aside from being cheaper, may help you cut costs in your energy bill. A little bit of concern for our environment will do you a lot good.

As it is a design, bathroom design lighting also should feature various and creative designs for lights to play on in a room. Considering the purpose of the room, however, for hygiene and beautifying, lighting designs can play-up the room for a more pleasurable and easier way to clean up. For example, to have an easier way of beautifying yourself, putting make-up or shaving your face, bath lights may be installed in either side of the mirrors. They will soften up your features as well as avoid annoying shadows. Also, counter, mirror or sink bulbs may be installed depending upon the theme or style of your bathroom. But always remember that it is better to install a centralized lighting in your bathroom, limiting the bulbs in the bathroom therefore saving energy and costs of your electricity.

Water, moisture and air greatly affect the wear and tear of your bathroom lights. Bathroom design lighting is not only limited to designs and light fixtures but also guaranteeing safety in every bathroom. Light bulbs should be placed in areas wherein it should be untouched by water. If not, protective covering should be placed in order not to risk the safety of those who use the bathroom especially the young and old ones.

Of course, practicability and safety should not compromise style and decoration. As lighting can greatly affect the mood of a room, using the bathroom should be a pleasurable habit as well as a form of relaxation. Bathroom design lighting comes in different shapes and sizes which can also be energy-savers, too. Depending on the theme of your bathroom, there are many designs to choose from, whether sconce-shaped, sleek cylindrical small lamps, Victorian or romantic lamps or just basic fluorescent lights. Just make sure that it does not clash with the over-all design of the bathroom as well as compromise safety measures.

Need some great bathroom decoration ideas? Look no further, as decorating bathrooms has never been easier. Read on to find out how.

First, be sure to determine your overall budget and the scope of the project before doing anything else. This will eliminate additional stress and frustration as your bathroom makeover project is underway.

Once you have determined your overall project and budget, it is time to start formulating your color and style palette, utilizing the bathroom decorating ideas and plans you may have been thinking about. Is there a defined decorating style in the rest of your home that will be carried through to the bathroom decorating project? It’s a good idea to be consistent with the style you have set for other areas of your home, although in a bathroom you can ‘go down a different road’ as long as the basic design elements are kept consistent.

The same question applies to the color palette. Have you established a color palette of three to five colors in your home? If you have, select at least two of those colors, whether primary or secondary, to use in your bathroom decorating project.

If you’re not sure what to do with color, here is a suggestion. Find a reputable paint store and work with the suggested palettes and color chips. There are many to choose from, so if you have a color or two that you are working with, you will have no problem finding a variety of suggested color palettes.

Now that you have your style and color choices narrowed down, here are your other considerations and bathroom decoration ideas:

1. Decide if you want to use bold colors on the walls or keep them neutral and use color as an accent. In most bathrooms you can go either way. If you are renting your home or are not sure about putting a lot of color on the walls, stick with a neutral shade and you won’t go wrong. Use a washable paint such as eggshell or possibly a semi gloss, although you will get quite a bit of sheen with that finish.

2. Lighting is important in the bathroom for obvious reasons. Make sure you have enough and that at least one light is bright. Using a softer light such as a small lamp in place of a nightlight is great, but make sure your alternative sources of lighting are nice and bright!

3. You can substantially change the look of your bathroom with accessories, so here are some great bathroom decoration ideas – use some or all of them!

Change the mirror to create a new look. If the existing mirror is square or rectangular, consider oval if that will work in your bathroom. Use a mirror that has an interesting frame instead of just a plain or beveled edge.

If the cabinetry is staying, change the hardware and select something that you can coordinate with the towel holders, for example. This will create a pulled together, designer look. If your decor style is Shabby Chic or French Country, you might want to paint the cabinets.

Shop for accessories that have the color palette and overall design feel you are creating, but please don’t settle for the matching set of anything! You know, the toothbrush holder, soap dish, shower curtain and small wastebasket that have the same palm tree on them??? Don’t do it! Spend a little extra time looking for individual pieces that ‘click’, but don’t match. And, they don’t have to be new. You might find something awesome in another room of your home, a flea market, shopping online or a combination of all three. Take your time and be selective – you will be glad you did.

Think about storage for your bathroom makeover. If you have a linen closet, that’s great. If not, look for creative ways to store your towels, etc. I have used a nightstand from a bedroom set in the bath and it was great – The lower cabinet was great for supplies, and I stored makeup and such in the top drawer.

Finally, remember that safety is always at the forefront in the bathroom. Put rugs on the floor that are non-slip. You can find many great selections at any number of stores depending on your budget. Think twice about using glass jars, etc in the bath if there are small children that will be using the bathroom.

A bathroom designs idea — can I really design my own bathroom? Why not! Today, the bathroom is much more than just a room for grooming and a place to read. Bathrooms can be a good place for home exercise equipment and a good music system or TV, for example. What better way to unwind from the day than a soothing shower or warm soak in the tub with candles and relaxing music. So start a notebook. When you get a bathroom designs idea, write it down. Soon you’ll have defined the bathroom that’s just right for you.

Design my own bathroom? You bet you can! When designing your own bathroom, some of the questions you should ask (and answer) include:

1. How big will the bathroom be? Bathroom sizes include:

o Master bathroom or luxury bathroom – includes toilet, bidet, two sinks, separate tub and shower, whirpool or spa and perhaps more, depending on your budget. Some master bathrooms are large enough to have exercise equipment, and they are subdivided into smaller compartments for privacy depending on what is needed.
o Full bathroom – includes toilet, sink, and combination tub/shower plumbed along one wall. Typical dimensions are 5×7 or 5×8 feet.
o Half bathroom – includes sink and toilet only. It can be placed on the main floor of your home to reduce the morning rush, and the family doesn’t have to go upstairs to use the toilet. Common dimensions are between 3×6 and 4×5 feet, about the size of a smaller closet.
o Small bathroom – includes corner shower stall, toilet and sink and typical dimensions are 6×6 feet.
o Childrens bathroom – can be a three-quarter bathroom or full bathroom depending on the size of your home and how many children you have. Children’s bathrooms should have plenty of storage and cubbies that are safe and colorful. If several kids will use the same bathroom, a wall or half wall between the toilet and the rest of the bathroom may be a good idea.
o Guest bathroom – can be a three-quarter bathroom or a full bathroom.

2. Are you planning to have convenient storage in the bathroom? A design my own bathroom person will always include bathroom storage. You can find a combination sink/vanity for extra storage. A great bathroom designs idea is you can never have too much bathroom storage! Use the wall space wisely with shelves or cabinets over the commode or almost anywhere in the bathroom. Consider using corner shelves, and hang towel bars above one another. Add a medicine cabinet with mirror to your bathroom to store grooming supplies, medicine or toiletries. Traditionally, the medicine cabinet was always located above the vanity or sink, but nowadays you can place it elsewhere in the bathroom. Add a shower caddy to your corner shower for extra storage.

3. Do you have enough lighting planned for your bathroom? Natural light is an important element in bathrooms. A window, a wall or roof skylight will bring in natural light, a view or a dramatic skyscape. Having a skylight that opens is great because moisture build-up is reduced. Artificial lighting is also vital and often overlooked in a bathroom. Without good lighting, the decor and the personality of your bathroom can not be developed properly. Lighting for your bathroom can be natural and manufactured. Lighting should be used to brighten and define the space since both can affect your mood and how you feel inside your home.

4. Another bathroom designs idea – what about ventilation? If you live in climates prone to mold and mildew, you should install an exhaust fan in your bathroom. Ventilating fans are sized by the number of cubic feet of air they move each minute (cfm). A design my own bathroom person will have a good ventilation system that can move the air from the bathroom to the outdoors about eight times per hour or once every 7 or 8 minutes. Bathrooms generate humidity and moisture that can penetrate ceilings, floors and countertops. Remove odors and humidity from a bathroom by installing a power ventilator large enough to do the job. You do not want your walls to break into a sweat every time someone showers.

Design my own bathroom? Go for it! A design my own bathroom person will read as much as possible, thinking through what is wanted and needed in this important room. A bathroom designs idea will range from materials used to the bathroom layout to the finished colors. Having a successful bathroom project is about making informed decisions while planning and while building. Continue the process of learning as much as you can before building begins. How much can you spend, what style will the bathroom be, what size ventilation should you have and so on. Your answer to each bathroom designs idea question is what will guide you so you’ll have the best bathroom ever.

Copyright 2005 InfoSearch Publishing

Right above my bathtub in my master bathroom the paint is peeling off the wall. The area is peeling above the tile in my bathtub and shower combination. I tried to glue the peeling paint back and only made the situation worst.

First things first. The paint is peeling because there is to much moisture in the bathroom while you are using it. Do you have any windows you can open or a ventilating bathroom fan. If you have a window crack it open part way while you are showering.

The water droplets will accumulate on the walls and drip into any cracks. Right above the tile grout is a great place for moisture to accumulate. Oh yeah moisture loves grout and drywall. If you have any unpainted areas or an area that has cracked. Guess what you have now.

Your paint is peeling because the bathroom gets hot and cold. Moist and dry. If you have the door and windows shut. You just created a moisture trap. Most people prefer their privacy and will closes the door when using the shower. Well then open the window and let some cold air in while you are taking a nice warn shower. I don’t think so. Most showering fools don’t like that idea either.

Ok one more idea keep the windows shut so you don’t let the cold air in. Then lock the door so no on barges in on you. If you have a ventilation fan turn it on. This will at least pull fresh air in from under the door and send the moist air out of the house.

But the fan is so noisy and I can’t enjoy my nice warm vapor producing shower that will eventually cause me to get sick from mold particles floating around in the air while I am using my bathroom.
Does this about sum it up for you and don’t we all do this from time to time. We want to enjoy our shower time, so we close up everything and when we are in our bath sauna environment relaxing our house is getting some damaging moisture that could cause mold and mildew.

Open a window or door a little when you shower. Get some air circulating through the bathroom and prevent damage to your nice house.

Put up with a little inconvenience for you homes sake and your pocket book.
